Half Day Safari

This half-day safari takes you by Land Rover into the Chalong highlands where you’ll visit an elephant camp for a trek through the countryside, learn how rice is produced at a local farm, enjoy a ride on a cart pulled by buffalo, see how coconut milk is processed, indulge in a mouthwatering Thai buffet lunch and more!

After being collected from your centrally located Phuket hotel, you’ll be taken by Land Rover into the Chalong Highlands.

Your first stop is at an elephant camp, the only one of its kind in southern Thailand to have attained the Royal Thai government standard award.

In your time here, you’ll learn more about elephant conservation from their mahout handlers and how you can do your bit to help, see how young elephants are trained and have the opportunity to touch these magnificent creatures and feed them their favourite snack of bananas.

You’ll also trek on an elephant into the highlands enjoying magnificent views over Phi Phi Island and Chalong Bay along the way.

Your next visit is to a local farmyard to learn how buffalo are still used to plough the rice fields. You’ll see how rice is harvested and de-husked and learn how the different varieties are produced. You’ll also have the opportunity to ride on a wooden cart pulled by buffalo before enjoying a refreshing cup of local coffee.

Learn how spicy Thai jungle curry is made (sampling some along the way if you dare!) before seeing how coconuts are processed to create the oil and milk used widely in Thai cooking.

Finally, board a boat for a delicious buffet lunch offering a selection of Thai dishes to suitable for all tastes.

At the end of the tour, you’ll be returned safely in comfort to your hotel.

Departure Location: The tour departs from centrally located hotels in Phuket. Please note that the itinerary may be subject to change on the day due to weather or local conditions.

Departure Times: Morning Tour - You will be collected from your hotel at 8-8.30am. Afternoon Tour - You will be collected from your hotel at 1-1.30pm.

Duration: Please allow half a day (approx. 5-6 hours) for this tour.
